Blue Bird Day Care and Learning Center is a New Mexico Pre-Kindergarten site. We have been afforded the privilege to provide a New Mexico sponsored Pre-K program in addition to the high quality nationally accredited programs that we already provide. In order to be eligible, your child needs to be 4 years old on or before Aug. 31 and reside in a TITLE I school district. Please Register on or before Aug 20th don’t delay!
The NM PreK curriculum focuses on children as engaged, energized, inquisitive and strongly involved in learning experiences that are meaningful to them. In this manner, the children learn responsibility for their own learning while developing strategies for the future otherwise known as readiness for kindergarten and beyond. Curriculum for PreK children is grounded in give-and-take relationships with caring teachers who provide authentic learning experiences.
Key Points of Curriculum in New Mexico PreK Programs
- Preschool Curriculum is Comprehensive - Curriculum is focused on the whole child and based on research about child development. Integrating all domains of development and academic content areas.
- Preschool Curriculum Social/Cultural - The Preschool professionals at Blue Bird recognize, understand and facilitate a variety of ways for children to express their developmental achievements.
- Curriculum and Assessment Integration - Through teachers observing and documenting children’s performance this informs them of the next step in teaching and organizing learning opportunities.
- Teachers and children engage in the learning process together. Teachers work closely with children as they explore and discover concepts through high quality play experiences, in daily routines and through interesting and engaging large and small group times.
Additionally, the Pre-K initiative provides health and developmental screenings at no cost. These screenings, which include vision, hearing, speech, and dental, help ensure your child is set up for a successful start to kindergarten the next year.
