As a parent or guardian, you know that social development is the most important early childhood and preschool activity your child can engage in. Whether your child is home schooled or you’re simply looking for a way to prepare your child for elementary school, Bluebird Day Care & Learning Center provides child social development programs that enhance your child’s well-being.

One of the ways we engage students is through visits to residents of local nursing homes. The interaction between your child and elderly residents is beneficial to both.

Important Developmental Milestones

As young as 1 -3 months a baby’s cognitive and emotional development is being encouraged through varies activities such as; Placing a small rattle in his/her hand to support the ability for a baby to shake it gently. Hanging a mobile two feet above for brain stimulation is a vital part of a baby’s development. Speaking clearly with a soft and pleasant voice while making eye contact, with help the baby learn to trust his caregiver.

As early as 3-6 months it is recommended to hold a baby in a sitting position occasionally, and this will support his physical development. Holding a baby in front of a mirror and praising the baby while doing it, provides him/her with positive and strong emotional ties to his caregiver. Reading and singing and talking to an infant will offer him/her a solid language foundation.

The baby knows you have not left him, you keep reappearing. Naming objects and foods is a great way to increase a child’s language skills.
